All Dressed

Today and yesterday I had an interesting conversation and thought. It's come across my mind multiple times, being normal that is...well I ask you, what is normal?

I think it's almost impossible to find something truly normal. Sure things have similarities and all, but everything also has differences. Sometimes clear, sometimes not, but every single item, person, whatever on this planet, is distinguishable in some way or another, that would separate, differentiate from the rest. An oddity perhaps, whatever. Point is...this distinguishable difference, would be contrary to 'normal'. That isn't really a bad thing if you ask me.

Especially since today, I had an encounter with someone talking about regularity. And also, how crazy someone (me...others too) can be. And then I started thinking about a phrase: "Regular people [don't]..."

Regular people. Who are regular people, those that clock in and out, 9-5, drink tea every afternoon, read the paper, eat food, call it a day? To me, that sucks, and so I write this.

All Dressed

Regular people come home at 4.
Well I sometimes come home at 5.

Regular people do their work.
Well I sometimes take on extra tasks.

Regular people are linear.
Well sometimes I'm circular.

Regular people like routine.
Well sometimes I'm sporadic.

Regular people are busy.
Well sometimes I'm bored

Regular people like to walk.
Well sometimes I like to run.

Regular people do their jobs.
Well sometimes I have fun.

Regular people go to sleep.
Well I sometimes dream.

Regular people are normal.
Well I guess I'm not.
And I could care less.

And really, why would I care? Billions of people inhabit this Earth and if we were all just regular, that would be boring, and a travesty. What about those not-so regular people that put in the extra hour, or enjoy the extra hour? What about those not-so regular people that like to express themselves a little more explicitly, or loudly. What about those not-so regular people that write and read and draw. What about those not-so regular people that have a bed time? What about those not-so regular people?

Well what I think, is that those not-so regular people, make a difference. And that's why they are the leaders, role models and inspirational people in the world.

You don't need to conform. I don't want to be regular or normal. I want to make a difference, I want to be irregular, I want to be me.
